The Rehab Lab Team – Healing Through MovementThe Rehab Lab Team – Healing Through Movement

Featuring a diverse group of experts, The Rehab Lab Team’s shared passion for holistic health aligns with the clinic’s ethos to provide clients with comprehensive, client-focused care. Muhd Fadhli, the Chief Physiotherapist, leads the team with his visionary approach to healing through movement, helping to guide clients towards their best selves.

The team, comprising researchers specializing in mechatronics and computer science, has developed high-tech prosthetic, orthotic and rehabilitative medical devices ready for immediate use in therapeutic rehabilitation and treatment paths. Among these is a device that helps people with spinal cord injuries to regain control of their movement by measuring muscle activity. This device is based on motion tracking that captures movement, an imaging technique called electrical impedance tomography (EIT) that measures what the muscles are up to and virtual reality that allows a patient to watch themselves performing exercises with the help of a physical therapist.

The Rehab Lab Team: United in Providing Top-Tier Rehabilitation

This system is called MuscleRehab and combines three components: a tracking suit that tracks movement, EIT that measure what the muscle are doing, and VR that allows a patient to perform exercises alongside a physical therapist. At this point, it only covers the quadriceps and sartorius muscles in the leg but down the line, the team plans to expand the system to include the glutes.

Another REHAB-LAB initiative is the twinning launched in 2016 which transferred the innovative concept originally created in France for manufacturing assistive devices via 3D printing to six more locations in Europe. The success factors of this twinning included providing training to facilitate the adoption of REHAB-LAB, staying connected to the community through a collaborative platform and supporting a shared charter for citizen/patient involvement.…
